Go Anyway

"THE RED TIDE"

I have found over the years that it is hard to find the motivation to go out in poor conditions, but I have equally found that the reward is often worth the effort. Nearly all of the best lighting I have ever seen are on occasions that seem hopeless and dire.

On this evening in Leland the clouds looked far from promising. I remember thinking that the chance for break through lighting was poor, but I decided to go out anyway. Just as the sun was setting, the clouds opened up a little near the horizon, letting the sun illuminate the underside of the clouds. This type of lighting creates a brilliant soft and saturated light.
