Tamaracks and Gigaramas

       While driving in the U.P. I noticed an absolutely amazing small island within a small pond that perfectly represented the transition from summer to Fall for me. This was taken on the way to L'anse in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The Tamaracks here were just starting to change. The overcast sky and light snow fall made this scene irresistible.

       I wasn't able to capture the scene exactly the way I wanted with any single focal length in a single photograph. I bypassed the idea of capturing the scene in one photograph and decided to go wild with a Gigarama. With a Gigarama, I was able to create the shape of the image I needed to express how wild this area actually is. I put together 18 (9 across and 2 tall) photographs using the Canon 400mm F5.6 L lens.
