Amazing ice formations were made possible due to strange weather near the beginning of December. Large stretches of ice covered the pilings at Good Harbor Beach just days before, but as the weather slightly warmed, the ice gave way to the incoming waves. The constant barrage of waves formed wonderful peninsulas that were supported by the pilings, creating an ice cantilever over the open water. The wave featured in the inlet of the ice cove is to show how this large ice peninsula is actual suspended over the water.
