Sometimes the wild areas of the world are right in your own backyard. I have an adventurous spirit, but sometimes I am not in the mood to go for a long drive to take a chance. Once in a while I will simply walk out the door with no bearing direction and see what I can find.
I originally found this lovely stream last winter while searching around aimlessly. Fresh snow had pounded Leelanau County and I knew I had to revisit this location. To my amazement, it was just as stunning as I had found it the year before. I found peace here, It was a sensation of tranquility that I find hard to explain. I can only hope that people can look into this photograph and feel a little bit of peace and tranquility themselves.
