Taking the good with the bad
I have found out over time that there is nothing without an equal and opposite side. Lets call it the good and the bad. This winter in Northern Michigan perfectly reflects this idea. The snow fall was the most beautiful I have ever seen in my life. Almost every week new powder would fall and renew the 'soft' look to the world. It could not have been a better winter for nature photography. If you say that all sounds just perfect, I would have to disagree.
This winter was the best I have ever seen for photography, that is true, but the equal and opposite fact is that it was ******* cold!! I have never seen temperatures dip as low as they did this winter and sustain brutally cold temperatures for months. Lows dropped well below 20°F not including windchill. So when you look at my photographs of all of these peaceful winter scenes, remember that it was peaceful, but it was also torture.
